Visitor Visa

Visitor Visa

An immigration document known as a visiting visa, also called a temporary resident visa (TRV), permits foreign nationals to enter and travel to Canada.

Many people travel to Canada each year for short visits with friends and family, to attend events, or for any other reason that does not call for a different kind of authorization than a visitor visa. A foreign national must submit several forms and supporting papers with their application for a visitor visa. That being said, the IRCC checklist only lays out what is necessary in order for the application to be deemed complete.

It is by no means meant to be seen as exhaustive, nor could it ever cover every eventuality that could arise. Notably, regardless of whether the supporting evidence is included on the IRCC checklist or not, the applicant must submit all of it in order to prove the legitimacy of his request. The applicant bears the responsibility of proving that he satisfies the prerequisites and, thus, deserves to be granted a visitor record or visa.
